ShakeOut Visualizations
Data Visualizations
Below are some examples of additional data visualizations. The first is a simple Google Map, which features easy import of DYFI data. The second shows DYFI report data imported into PinpointAPRS. The third visualization is in Tableau, a business intelligence software. The fourth visualization is open source with QGIS.

Google Maps ShakeOut Map
This map presents the same data with Cc: SHAKEOUT in a Google Maps format.
This map will be updated manually after ShakeOut, unlike the one above, which updates automatically. We've included it to show how versatile mapping can be when using data from amateur radio reports.
2. DYFI ShakeOut Reports on PinpointAPRS
In case local internet drops out, net control stations can plot reported Intensities with APRS software.
While the colors are not a great match to USGS colors, an APRS map still provides better visual contrast than the Winlink internal map.
Maps like this can be created with offline tools, making them a resilient option. CSV data can be exported to a spreadsheet, adjusted and, with the help of third party software, turned into a GPX file.
